About the Lahaina Homecoming
|
The Lahaina Homecoming is a three-day gathering rooted in reconnection, remembrance, and rebuilding. Taking place July 17–19, 2026, this event is about bringing people back—back to Lahaina.
The Lahaina Homecoming is the brainchild of the Maui Economic Recovery Commission (Maui ERC) Healing Journey Team, created from deep listening, lived experience, and community need. The idea grew from ongoing healing work with Lahaina families and a shared understanding that coming home—together—is an essential part of recovery. This gathering reflects Maui ERC’s commitment to care that is trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and led by the community itself. More than a festival, the Lahaina Homecoming is a space to heal together, to honor what was lost, and to invest in what comes next. It centers on Lahaina's people, stories, culture, and future. |

Recovery is not only about mental, emotional, and physical well-being—it also includes creating economic opportunities that empower individuals and families to rebuild, thrive, and move forward with dignity.
As we continue the journey of healing Lahaina, it is important that we mālama (care for) every aspect of our community. By supporting local businesses, entrepreneurs, artisans, and service providers, we strengthen the foundation of a resilient and thriving community for future generations.

Enter our "E Ho‘i Mai" Competition
The “E Hoʻi Mai” Competition is a special initiative created in partnership with Hawaiian Airlines to help reunite Lahaina families and community members with their hometown during the Lahaina Homecoming event on July 17–19, 2026. This opportunity is dedicated to those who call Lahaina home but are currently living away—whether displaced by the 2023 wildfires, priced out of Hawaiʻi, or separated by distance over the years.
Through this program, round-trip flights from the continental U.S. will be provided for up to 80 individuals to return home for a weekend centered on healing, reconnection, cultural grounding, and collective visioning for Lahaina’s future.
Applicants are being asked to share a short video story about their ʻohana and connection to Lahaina. Professional production is not necessary—we simply want to hear your heart, your memories, and why coming home matters to you.
